Opus V Woods Symphony

Opus V Woods Symphony

Opus V Woods Symphony by Amouage is one of the most intellectual and artistic creations in the legendary Library Collection. Originally launched in 2011 and later renamed Opus V Woods Symphony, it was created by perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud. This is not a typical woody scent—it is a refined iris-oud composition that feels futuristic, elegant, and deeply niche.

How It Smells

It opens with orris root and rum—powdery, creamy, slightly boozy, and immediately elegant. The heart deepens with more orris, softened by touches of rose and jasmine, giving subtle floral texture rather than sweetness. In the drydown, oud, dry woods, and civet create a warm, animalic, slightly smoky depth. The overall effect is powdery, woody, rooty, leathery, and highly sophisticated.

Fragrance Notes:

  • Top Notes: Orris Absolute, Rhum.
  • Heart Notes: Orris Concrete, Rose, Jasmine.
  • Base Notes: Agarwood, Civet, Dry Wood Accord
